"Window shopping for their own reflections,
The moronic will inherit the earth."
^best damn thing that came out of english class today. I'd much rather write about how doomed and cynical the world is than what bug I don't like. Nice stretch of subject matter Geisetto.
So, apparently Miles was involved in a Pomeroy-related situation today, hence the severe lack of him at school. Jake said he must have been the designated driver, since Pomeroy and other unidentified car occupant obviously intended to get very high. Why Miles associates with them ,I will never understand. I'm pretty concerned. I know he doesn't smoke or do drugs or drink or anything the like, but skipping school to be an accomplice isn't getting any honorable mentions. Maybe Jake was wrong and he just had an appointment or something. I hope so.
Sigh. This was not a good day. Even when Joe and I ran outside in the parking lot in the dark in our socks, it wasn't really a good day. That was fun, but it really didn't make up for the rest of this awful Wendesday.
I was thinking about that time at Skin of Our Teeth last year when we rode around the first floor on the Fire&Ice bike/canopy thingama. We had four in the vehicle, and two people running ahead of us to swing the doors open. We skidded through the halls and shcreeched on two wheels..we damn near broke the thing and seriously injured a few people, but, jeez, that was such a great time. I miss times like that. That's what highschool's supposed to be like, isn't it? A little risk, thrilling events and awesome friends just having fun.
So, I guess I can get out of that church meeting thanks to my beloved Arthur. Now I can sleep over Caity's and go shopping and have a splendid time not being in a church meeting. Fantastic. That's my motivation for the next two days.
I got 12 letters in the mail today. From Colleges. Very persistent, those colleges are. We threw out the ones from Cleveland and Illinois, but mom filled out a thing for more information from Boston University and Northeastern. I aso got another Summer At Brown invitation; that'd be amazing, but its about $5000 so that will never happen.
So hear about that fight club thing at school? There was an article in the enterprise and I assume thats the cause of the new after school policy and the emergency teacher's meeting today. Funny how I didn't hear about it at school, usually that kind of thing is bragged about in the halls. Well, when I left rehearsal there were three Fox 25 news vans in the parking lot and Bri and Sam Cole were interviewed. That's a new record for Middleboro...making the newscast twice within two months...first the rape and now this. Funny how we're only known for bad things. Can you imagine what other towns must think of us: "whats the hell's in those cranberries?"
In other news, the play is bursting into flames before my eyes. People are still not off-book. The set is getting more complicated every night and its doubtful we'll have it done when we need it...in a week. Four people won't be here over vacation, included Kenny who we need more than life, because StPeter forgot to tell him she changed the times of rehearsal. And that's just the stuff that came up in the first half hour of rehearsal.
I hate to say it, but I will be relieved if we don't make it past prelims. I just want this monstrosity to end.
