a year in review,
inspired by cait and, subsequently, birkelah.

in 2008, I:

attempted, with interesting results, to reinvent myself; learned to fall asleep on the blue line; cried when heath ledger died; tried to fall out of love; discovered that, after months of taste-tests, the ultimate chai latte can be found at jaho in salem; rode in a tractor, a gator, a hay wagon, and other assorted kentucky transportation; had my first car accident; went skinny-dipping with my fantastic roommates in the dark of night; went back to twin lakes; found driftwood; sprained my ankle, threw out my back, had tendonitis, but didn't have a sinus infection; became more friendly; worked at six different theatres; dressed up as mary poppins on halloween; learned how to drape patterns, make pockets, embroider, pleat anything, make bonnets, match patterns, dye fabric, conduct burn tests, construct doublets out of practically nothing, and how to not sew my fingers to things; drove in the snow; didn't drive off a bridge when I probably should have died; was pulled over; got drunk for the first time; had my shirt chewed on by a horse; had a date on valentine's day; moved out into the apartment on linden; was stood up by a resturant; found a job I really loved; smoked for the first time; became increasingly proficient in said area; saw eddie izzard live; danced with strangers, kissed relative strangers; slept on floors and didn't sleep in beds; listened to the collected works of pink floyd; turned down a lesbian proposition; became obsessed with flight of the conchords, strangers with candy, arrested development, and always sunny in philadelphia; remained faithful to lost despite disheartening plot twists; began attending church regularly; was asked out at church, online, on layfeyette st, at the callboards, and while in bed; was given the most beautiful flowers on what could honestly be called the most sucessful first date, ever; saw at least 17 plays- worked on 12 of them; eventually regretted most of my summer exploits; had another bad october; almost got back together with miles; watched him drive away when he left for the west coast; ate smores that were cooked over the flame of an aromatherapy candle in our dining room; tried to surprise chels with tickets to see colin mocherie and brad sherwood, but enjoyed the show immensely anyway; had my first hangover; stayed awake for 30 hours; burst into tears on christmas eve; saw a real giant squid; wrote my parents a thank-you note; cut my hair; took yoga classes; saw enchanted, juno, wanted, dark knight, the bucket list, sex and the city, and wall-e in theatres; wrote a poem; ate vegan tacos for easter dinner; voted; was not carded at the liquor store; bought so many books that someday I'll get a chance to read; was undefeated in scrabble; became much closer to my friends in salem; called cait and molly and miles first, when I found out about dad; was quite suddenly jolted into adulthood; went to the emergency room, where I became a medical mystery; made emily flight of the conchords paper dolls for her birthday; met someone, who has very good potential; was blessed
